About CP Rochester's Family Dental Center

Complete oral care for all with a focus on individuals with disabilities of mobility issues.

Located at 1000 Elmwood Ave Door 20, Rochester, NY 14620, CP Rochester's Family Dental Center operates as a dental clinic serving Rochester in New York. This page gathers the practical details people usually look for before visiting: where it is, how to reach it, when it opens and how customers rate it.

Dental care in the United States is delivered mostly by private practices: a general or family dentist who handles exams, cleanings, fillings and crowns, and refers out anything that needs a specialist. Group practices and dental clinics put several dentists, hygienists and sometimes specialists under one roof, often with evening and Saturday hours. Most offices ask new patients for a comprehensive exam with X-rays before routine cleanings, which the American Dental Association recommends every six months. Prices are set by each practice, and most accept dental insurance (PPO plans more widely than HMO ones), CareCredit-style financing or an in-house membership plan for people without coverage. Emergency dental services take same-day patients for toothaches, broken teeth and abscesses, usually at a premium.

Hours are published for 3 days a week. Typical hours are 8:30 am–3:45 pm. It is closed on Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday. Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. The listed phone number is (585) 402-7448. Many businesses also reply to text messages on the same number if it is a cell phone. More information is available on its website, cprochester.org.

Its Google rating is 3.5 out of 5 from 20 reviews, a solid but mixed picture; reading the most recent reviews will tell you what to expect.

Rochester is in New York, in the Northeast, where four distinct seasons shape local life: hot humid summers, snowy winters that can close businesses for a day, and a dense pattern of towns where walking, transit and street parking all matter. Traffic in Rochester peaks on weekday mornings and afternoons, so allow extra time then. Addresses read from the street number up to the city, state abbreviation and five-digit ZIP code; the map link on this page shows the exact spot.

Just want to warn anyone trying to contact this office. Their listed hours are woefully incorrect. I called at 5:08pm on a Monday (listed open until 5:30pm) and got an automated message stating they were closed. They are only open Monday and Tuesday until 3:45 and Thursday until 4:15 according to the automated statement. I pressed "1" to leave a message for the next business day per the automated instructions and was met with and automated "goodbye" and the call ended. It has been an absolute nightmare trying to find a moderately decent office that accepts Medicaid anywhere in the region and its taken so long that my painless, easy-to-fix problem has become a painful, not easy-to-fix problem and I still haven't even been able to get my foot in the door anywhere. This is an incredibly disappointing first interaction.

Ask for anyone but Tracy Tracy the dental hygienist was playing religious music and then only turned it off after I got mad and then refused provide service. Tracy has no care or compassion for the autistic community and people with disabilities. This place has gone downhill after losing some of they're better employees. I will be looking elsewhere for a dentist to be honest avoid here in the future unless things change

Absolutely atrocious experience here that we will never ever attempt again. My wife searched for ages for a place to bring her adult son, who has severe anxiety as well as autism, OCD & Tourette’s, all of which was explained when she made the appointment. We had a 6 month wait for what we were told would be a 15 minute β€œdesensitization” session to help him get familiar with them. Great, exactly what we wanted. With high anticipation we drove 90 minutes to Rochester, only to find out we had been booked for a 1 hour cleaning, with a hygienist who had no expectation of helping a severely anxious person and zero skill for managing him. We had to take him back to the car after about five minutes of attempted conversation, then she gave my wife an attitude as though we were the ones who screwed up by bringing him there. Get bent, Traci. Absolutely never coming back and we highly suggest the same to anyone with special needs. I know it’s so hard to find good help for neurodivergent people, I really empathize with that, but pass on this place cuz you won’t get it here.

Sharon, please retire. Your nasty attitude set a negative tone on 1/22/26 when I came in with my son to hand in an enrollment packet and I had a couple of questions. If you cannot answer questions without the sarcasm, raising your voice and turning red and shaking because you forgot your humanity, you don’t belong anywhere near a phone, a keyboard or the public.

It took 9 months to get a new patient appointment. I drove my handicapped daughter and arrived a half hour early and had to sit outside because the office was locked for lunch break. When it was opened we checked in. The person behind the desk after we sat waiting finally called us up to inform us that she did have an appointment for 1:00 pm but the dentist would be out of the office for 2 months and that the secretary was not there so we would have to call the next day to schedule a new appointment. Also there was no appointment for a dental cleaning and no one able to do a teeth cleaning. My daughter’s care manager was also not notified that the dentist would not be there for the appointment. Handicapped people on Medicaid are not treated as well as others with private insurance. When I was working and had private dental insurance, my daughter saw a dentist for 11 years who doesn’t take Medicaid. This dentist charged us FULL PRICE when I lost private insurance and refused to lower his price to match what private insurance pays. The poor have to pay more for medical services and get treated poorly. It wasn’t easy driving there due to the Lilac festival traffic and closed roads.
